About the Instructor:
Mike Schaeffer is well known as an acting coach bringing excitement and intensity to his training. He is a professional and accomplished stage and film actor as well as a film screen writer and stage playwright.

Mike has provided acting instruction for Marin Shakespeare, Point Park College and the prestigious Governors School for the Arts in Virginia and has a BFA in theater studies from Carnegie-Mellon University.

On the Lucky Penny stage in Annie (Daddy Warbucks), Funny Girl (Ziegfeld), Bonnie and Clyde (Frank Hamer) and Beyond Therapy (Stuart).
​
Other local critically acclaimed performances include as Edward IV, and the murderer Tyrell in Richard III, at Marin Shakespeare, as well as, A Steady Rain , Between Riverside and Crazy, The Thanksgiving Play , and Disgraced (at Left Edge Theatre).

Off-Broadway credits include THEATREWORKS USA PRESENTS TREASURE ISLAND as Long John Silver. OFF-OFF BROADWAY includes "The Boys from Syracuse", Witness for the Prosecution, Bliss, The Blackbird and The Diviners. Regional credits include Virginia Stage Company, Virginia Opera, Marin Shakespeare Company, Virginia Musical Theater, La Comedia, Pittsburgh Public Theater, City Theater, Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival and The New Group Theater.
Film and TV includes:
Costar in the film DONOVAN REID (available on Amazon) and will soon be seen alongside Don Johnson and Cheech Marin in the NASH BRIDGES reboot (coming this fall).

Session 1
Our adult acting series provides robust training for those looking to build their acting skills.
​
SOME OF WHAT WILL TAKE PLACE:
Learn tools and techniques to lead to authentic character portrayals. Session 1 lays the foundations of acting and building trust. Mike will coach you through memorized monologues and cold readings, as well as audition techniques that will lead into scene work.
Gain advice and mentoring in a learn-by-doing environment enabling you to improve your acting and dramatic performances, prepare for auditions, and prepare better for roles.
This 8-week course is appropriate experienced and aspiring actors alike. Memorization of lines is required.
